You've spent decades building a business your employees depend on and your customers trust. When it's finally time to think about stepping back, the usual options can feel grim — a competitor who absorbs your company and erases its name, a private-equity roll-up cutting costs to hit a five-year exit, or a broker who turns your private decision into a public auction.
You deserve a partner who you feel comfortable handing the torch to.
We've sat where you're sitting. Before Everward, each of us started a company from nothing, grew it over many years, and eventually sold our respective businesses. We know exactly what it feels like to hand over something you built — and how much the after matters.
A biomedical engineer by training, Neil co-founded Avitus Orthopaedics - a medical device company - during his grad school tenure at Johns Hopkins University. He and his team built the company from zero — through prototypes, patents, manufacturing, FDA approvals and much more — to a successful exit to a strategic acquirer, impacting 10,000+ patients' lives in the process. Neil prides himself on having delivered the "Avitus Experience": top service to the stakeholders that mattered most... his employees, patients, clinicians, and hospitals. Neil has spent over a decade operating in highly regulated, hands-on markets.
In 2002, working out of his apartment in Hartford, Ari founded the technology management company IT Direct and grew it into the largest pure-play, SMB-focused managed services provider in Connecticut — recognized on the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing companies for seven straight years and repeatedly named a best place to work in the state. After IT Direct was acquired by CompassMSP in 2020, Ari became CEO of the combined company, scaling it to more than 350 team members before its sale to a private-equity buyer in 2025. He continues to advise CompassMSP on growth, culture, and client relationships — the things he cares about most.
We value integrity and building strong relationships with our customers, employees, and partners.
You've built something impressive over decades — we take the time to learn how and why it works; then we have the courage to explore bold new ideas.
No five-year flip. We're not here to make a quick buck. We're looking to build durable businesses with solid foundations.
A direct conversation, never an auction. Every business has its own fingerprint, so we tailor the transition to your goals, your team, and your timeline.
We invest our own capital in every business we buy. When you do well and the business does well, so do we — that's the whole point.
Your people keep their jobs. Your customers keep their service. We earn the right to improve things slowly, and only where it genuinely helps. This is the blocking and tackling of stewardship — not financial engineering.
We protect cash flow, keep every commitment to your customers, and reassure your team. No sudden moves, no drama.
We sit with your people and document how the business really works — the relationships and know-how that never made it into a manual — before proposing anything.
We develop the managers you trained and give them room to lead, so the business gets stronger without depending on any one person.
Where it clearly helps, we add modern tools and take busywork off your team's plate — never change for its own sake.
We reinvest to make a good business steadier, more durable, and built to outlast all of us.
We focus on profitable, essential businesses across the Northeast — the necessary kind that people rely on every day. If this sounds like your business, we'd love to talk. Below are some examples of the industries we look at.
A relaxed, confidential conversation — owner to owner. Nothing to prepare, no documents, no obligation.
We learn about your business and what matters most to you. You learn how we operate and exactly what we'd protect.
If there's a fit, we lay out a clear, fair process on your timeline. If not, the conversation stays between us.
Whether you're ready to plan your exit or simply thinking ahead, we'd be glad to talk — in complete confidence, with no obligation.
